Fractional CFO Services

I help construction and manufacturing companies develop financial systems that create profit … and peace of mind.

Serving mid-sized, growth-stage companies in Alberta and across Canada

  • Our finances finally make sense!

I hired Angie to support us through transitions to a new company, a new CRM, and new systems. She also helped us catch up on overdue year-ends. Since working with Angie, our books and bookkeeping practices have tightened up and become much more bulletproof.

Because of Angie, I’m much more knowledgeable about what our finances are telling us. I’m making better decisions because I have a better understanding of our financial picture.

    M.A., HVAC business owner

CEOs of growing, mid-sized construction and manufacturing companies are responsible for countless decisions and activities: job costing, personnel, cash flow, reporting, inventory management, and risk management.

As your company grows and transitions, so must your financial know-how, bookkeeping systems, and reporting.

As you navigate complex change and growth, you need financial leadership and expertise to guide your decision-making and next steps.

Why a Fractional CFO?

You may not have the need (or the budget) to hire a full-time Chief Financial Officer, and that’s where a Fractional CFO can step in.

As your Fractional CFO, I’ll provide the financial guidance, strategy, and mentoring to help your business through transitions and help you upgrade your company’s internal skills and financial systems to maximize profitability and scalability.

  • Angie took the weight off my shoulders and created better systems and structure.

Angie is very personable, honest, and collaborative. That’s what we look for in people we work with. She was reliable - she showed up to every meeting — even the weird-hour ones. She was responsive and available.

Angie helped us set up structure: processes for approvals, sign-offs, and bookkeeping. That was a huge weight off my shoulders.

    C.Y., engineering business owner

The bookkeeping and systems that got you here won’t get you to the next level.

It’s time to hand over the financial complexity and stress to a reliable and responsive partner who’s not afraid to roll up her sleeves and get ‘er done.

So, you’ve heard the term “Fractional CFO,” but you’re not sure if they are the right fit for you...let’s dive into it.

Fractional CFO vs. Internal CFO

Fractional CFO

  • Hired on a part-time basis, so more affordable

  • Works with an existing bookkeeper and team

  • Takes on a part-time role to lead the finances

  • The role is customized to business needs

  • Has a varied portfolio, allowing them to bring a range of solutions to the table

Internal CFO

  • A full-time position, with a base salary of $200k

  • Works with the financial team closely

  • More readily available for problem-solving as and when the team needs assistance

  • Completely focused on one business’s needs

When you know your numbers, you’ll make better decisions to grow your construction and manufacturing business in today’s market.

Get strategic financial insights and guidance from a trusted partner who’s not afraid to dish up a little tough love.

Got Questions? Ask Away!

  • A couple of reasons. First, you may not have the budget or the demands to hire a full-time CFO. If you’re at the stage where your team and systems need to grow and elevate, that’s where a fractional CFO can really help you. I’ll step into your company and help mentor your key bookkeeping and financial staff to upgrade their skills and strategy. I can also provide the guidance and advice to upgrade your financial systems, structure and reporting.

Secondly, when you bring me on as your fractional partner, you get the benefit and experience of a Big Four firm, but you won’t be “just another client on the roster.” I combine Big Four insights with one-on-one, hands-on support. I don’t just run the numbers and leave. I roll up my sleeves, get dirty, get ‘er done, and get you growing.

  • A Fractional CFO is a great option to get you through a period of transition, growth or even chaos. You might need a FCFO if you’re facing any of these challenges:

    • Financial complexity is outgrowing your bookkeeper or accountant

    • Scaling too fast for the current team or systems to keep up

    • Loss or transition of key financial staff (your bookkeeper or controller leaves)

    • You need to catch up on backlogs or reporting

    • Transitioning to new accounting software and systems (switching from desktop to online, paper to digital)

    • Prepping for growth, exit or investment

    • You’re wearing too many hats in your business, and you need someone with a higher level of financial expertise to support your decision-making

  • Because of my background (see my About page) I specialize in construction and manufacturing. I’ve worked with residential builders, HVAC, fabricators, and manufacturers.

I love supporting the businesses that help people build homes, communities, and livelihoods. I enjoy the complexity that comes with project and inventory management (number nerd, here!).

When you work with me, you get a CPA and a strategic thought partner on your team. I bring insights and creative solutions from the varied industries and companies I’ve worked with.

If you want a reliable financial advisor and partner who’s not afraid to jump into the mess and complexity of your numbers…

… And if you’re not afraid of making change (and a little tough love)… We’ll be a great fit.
