CPA, CGA & Fractional CFO for Construction & Manufacturing Companies

Chartered Professional Accountant. Fractional CFO. Football Mom. Problem Solver. Growth-Oriented Leader. Trailblazer.

Woman wearing an all black, business professional outfit, is sat in a modern, beige armchair, smiling at the camera.

Hi, I’m Angie!

I love working with the businesses that help people build homes, communities, and livelihoods.

I’m a real number nerd who enjoys the complexity that comes with project and inventory management in building and manufacturing.

And it all started when I got my first junior accounting job at a remote camp on a construction site in northern Alberta.

I worked 13-hour days, in 10-day shifts, to help clean up a billing backlog that interrupted cash flow and put payroll at risk, creating stress for hardworking employees. It turned out the foremen weren’t being trained on the overly complex coding, which created a lot of back and forth. It was stressful and a lot of work.

The company hired a financial consultant who assessed the situation and made recommendations to improve and streamline systems that eliminated the messy backlog.

And that’s when I knew I wanted to do the same. I wanted to jump into the mess, roll up my sleeves, and find solutions to create a clear path to financial success.

I obtained my CPA/CGA designations in 2009. I then developed exceptional technical and leadership skills over 12 years of working in the enterprise business practice department at a “Big Four” firm in Edmonton.

Today, I work with construction and manufacturing businesses to crunch numbers, clear bottlenecks, clean up messes, and create financial roadmaps to support long-term sustainability and growth.

The biggest bottleneck for construction and manufacturing businesses is not knowing your numbers or understanding what those numbers are trying to tell you.

Construction and manufacturing founders wear a lot of hats in the business …

… and accounting is often the least-favourite hat to wear!

You may not have the financial expertise to support rapid growth or times of change. When you scale too fast, you outgrow your financial systems and bookkeeping skills, which creates chaos and confusion.

CEOs, shareholders and their teams should have accurate numbers accessible to help guide your business decisions and reach your goals and strategic objectives.

When I help CEOs and operations managers modernize their financial systems and better understand their numbers, they become more confident in their decision-making. And they have less stress and more peace of mind.

  • From a risky position to righting the ship!

Before Angie, I didn't know we were in the risky position we were in.

Our bookkeeper left and I was scrambling. I hired an internal bookkeeper without knowing the load was so great. We kept getting farther and farther behind and I didn't know it.

If we didn't work with Angie, we’d be spinning our wheels and not getting anywhere.

Angie's been instrumental in helping us right our ship and get us going in the right direction.

More about me!

Originally from Dawson Creek, BC, I have lived with my husband, teen boys and 2 dogs in Edmonton, AB, for over 25 years.

In the summer, you can find me sitting by the fire with a can of beer in my hand, laughing and making memories with family and friends. In the winter, you’ll find me in my happy place: on the ski hill! I have also been caught running in the Edmonton River Valley in below-30 weather, just for fun!

When I’m not crunching numbers and solving problems, you’ll find me kicking back, sipping a chai latte while watching Lord of the Rings or banging on my buffalo drum to my fave country songs.

I’m also passionate about addressing the significant mental health challenges business leaders and accounting professionals face. I’m exploring tools like meditation, Shamanic healing, and creativity to support my own mental wellbeing. And I love sharing these tools with the bookkeepers and accountants I mentor.

I am a business finance leader who helps you scale and get to your next level.

I meet business owners where they are at. Feel flustered? That’s okay. Dealing with a bookkeeping backlog? I’ve probably seen worse. Don’t know what you don’t know? We’ll figure it out together.

I approach numbers with both logic AND creativity. While finance is a traditionally logical sector, that doesn't mean we can’t get creative with our problem-solving, to ensure we are creating systems and structures that actually work for your business.

I focus on building long-lasting foundations and educating teams. When I work with you, my goal is always to set you up for success, in the long run. We focus on a strong base that you can evolve with, and educate your team, so they feel empowered by growth, rather than overwhelmed by it.

  • Angie took the weight off my shoulders and created better systems and structure.

Angie is very personable, honest, and collaborative. That’s what we look for in people we work with. She was reliable - she showed up to every meeting — even the weird-hour ones. She was responsive and available.

Angie helped us set up structure: processes for approvals, sign-offs, and bookkeeping. That was a huge weight off my shoulders.
